Welcome! This is a website that everyone can build together. It's easy!

Welcome, I'm Steve Dickie and I teach at Divine Child High School. I've created this page to serve as an interactive handout for any workshops I lead or presentations I give (great idea from David Warlick).

For more information on how I use technology in my classroom check out my blog: Teaching With Technology which is updated much more often than this page.

MACUL 2008 - Social Networking In Education

Outline:
  1. My Presentation: When I sat down to get my presentation together I'd planned on doing a powerpoint. I found it was very difficult for me to think linearly about Social Networking and how it can be used in education. Consequently I used CMap, a free concept mapping program, to put it together. You really should check out their site, it's awesome.
  2. Links from my presentation (or those that inspired it):
    1. www.ning.com - Create your own social networking site
    2. Classroom2.0 - A social network of educators interested in Web 2.0
    3. education.ning.com - A social network of educators who use Ning for their classrooms, school administration, conferences, or professional development.
    4. Minds on Fire from Educause
  3. I also created some relatively boring videos to teach you (and anyone else you share them with) how to use Ning.
  4. Where can you find me:
    1. falconphysics.blogspot.com: My Blog focused on teaching with technology
    2. falconphysics.blip.tv: This is where I put videos on the net.
    3. Instructables: Step by step directions to a lot of what I do. (no ning stuff yet, but it's coming)
    4. Twitter: I just joined Twitter after having seen Steve Dembo.
  5. I promised to share a link to a description of RSS. Here's a link to Will Richardson's guide to RSS.
