Welcome, I'm
Steve Dickie and I teach at Divine Child High School. I've created this page to serve as an interactive handout for any workshops I lead or presentations I give (
great idea from David Warlick).
For more information on how I use technology in my classroom check out my blog:
Teaching With Technology which is updated much more often than this page.
MACUL 2008 - Social Networking In Education
Outline:
- My Presentation: When I sat down to get my presentation together I'd planned on doing a powerpoint. I found it was very difficult for me to think linearly about Social Networking and how it can be used in education. Consequently I used CMap, a free concept mapping program, to put it together. You really should check out their site, it's awesome.
- Links from my presentation (or those that inspired it):
- www.ning.com - Create your own social networking site
- Classroom2.0 - A social network of educators interested in Web 2.0
- education.ning.com - A social network of educators who use Ning for their classrooms, school administration, conferences, or professional development.
- Minds on Fire from Educause
- I also created some relatively boring videos to teach you (and anyone else you share them with) how to use Ning.
- Where can you find me:
- falconphysics.blogspot.com: My Blog focused on teaching with technology
- falconphysics.blip.tv: This is where I put videos on the net.
- Instructables: Step by step directions to a lot of what I do. (no ning stuff yet, but it's coming)
- Twitter: I just joined Twitter after having seen Steve Dembo.
- I promised to share a link to a description of RSS. Here's a link to Will Richardson's guide to RSS.
